Frank Spencer Sutton was an American actor best known for his role as Gunnery Sergeant Vince Carter in the television series "Gomer Pyle, U.S.M.C".
He was born in Clarksville, Tennessee, to Frank Sims and Thelma (Spencer) Sutton. Sutton discovered his interest in acting at a young age and started performing in school plays.

During World War II, Sutton served in the U.S. Army in the South Pacific region, participating in 14 landings.
